OUR STORY

A love of African women and fashion combined with a commitment to a tiny West African country is where our story begins. The Bombchel Factory founder, Archel Bernard had been designing her own contemporary clothing using the bold fabric prints sold in the markets in her homeland of Liberia when the Ebola outbreak swept the already impoverished country in 2014. Archel decided she wanted to do her part in helping some of the people most impacted by the epidemic. She opened our little sewing factory in the heart of Monrovia with a mission to improve the lives of an all-woman staff in 2016. Our ladies began earning salaries for the first time in their lives. We immediately saw their pride and confidence as they mastered their new trade.

The Bombchel Factory opened its first store in the United States in 2020, at Atlanta's Ponce City Market, bringing our bold and beautiful ethically-made fashions to our sisters and brothers in America. Our journey together is just beginning. All are Welcome at Bombchel!
